Project Development Manager – Renewable Energy

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and driven Project Development Manager to lead the growth of our renewable energy portfolio across Solar and BESS in Australia. This role is responsible for the full lifecycle of project development-- from greenfield origination and site identification through to planning approvals and financial close. This is a hands-on role requiring a strategic mindset to navigate complex regulatory landscapes and the ability to work collaboratively with our Headquarters in Taiwan.
Key Responsibilities:
- End-to-End Development: Lead the full lifecycle of project development, including site identification (greenfield), feasibility assessments, and securing planning approvals.
- BESS Specialization: Navigate the unique technical and regulatory requirements of utility-scale battery projects, including grid stability and market participation strategies.
- Stakeholder Diplomacy: Build and maintain trust-based relationshipswith landowners, First Nations groups, local councils, and state planning authorities.
- Grid Connection Mastery: Oversee the grid enquiry and application process, working closely with AEMO and NSPs to secure viable Connection Agreements (GPS).
- Commercial Strategy: Refine project business cases and commercial models; manage budgets and timelines to ensure projects are "investment-ready."
- HQ Collaboration: Serve as the Australian market expert, providing regular strategic updates to overseas HQ and aligning local execution with global standards.
Experience and Skills:
- Australian Market Expert: Minimum 5+ years of proven experience in renewable energy development specifically within the Australian National Electricity Market (NEM) or WEM (Whole Electricity Market).
- BESS Literacy: Deep understanding of Battery Storage development,including land requirements, fire safety regulations, and grid connection nuances.
- Proven Track Record: History of successfully taking projects through DA (Development Application) approval and towards Financial Close.
- Communication: Exceptional negotiation skills with the ability to translate complex Australian regulatory hurdles into clear strategic options for HQ.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Engineering, Planning, Business, or a related field.
- Must have the legal right to work in Australia.
